Interoperability is entering a new era, and so is our organization. In 2013, a handful of competitors came together to address barriers to operability. Since those days, our vision has only strengthened. Today, our network supports 37,000+ provider sites and 244M+ unique individuals through the retrieval of 8.5B+ health records. CommonWell is deployed in 50 states, plus Puerto Rico and Washington D.C.

As the movement to achieve nationwide interoperability matures, with the help of frameworks such as The Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement™ (TEFCA™) alongside local and regional efforts, CommonWell is evolving as well. In addition to being named a Qualified Health Information Network™ (QHIN™) in the last year, our value as a community of powerful, aligned leaders for health data transformation has never been more important.

In summer 2024, we teamed with brand strategy studio Uncommon Bold to better understand and amplify our strengths as an organization heading into our second decade. Through their research, community listening, and strategy sessions, we sharpened our focus on what matters most. This evolution is now reflected in our own updated brand identity, as well as our coordination with members.

As we launched at the Summit event in Nashville, we have crystalized our mission and vision, reinforced by the simplicity of our refreshed brand identity and colors. Slab lab serif font Aleo brings industrial-revolution authority to our headlines and is paired with modern, fresh poppins for readability. Our new brand colors lean into the strength of the Alliance, in recognition of our incredible community to bring to bear our collective experience and wisdom.

While the rest of the landscape may feel anything but stable, we are consistent and focused on our mission. We’ve seen a lot since our founding, and this experience has taught us that interoperability’s value is one that can weather any storm. Now is the time for all of us to ask the hard questions and speak up and out. We must ensure usability and accessibility remain core priorities, and affordability, compatibility and integration doesn’t get left behind. We are responsible for giving a voice to diverse stakeholders for the future sustainability of data exchange.

We’re looking toward a bright future, and are glad to have you by our side.
