Adventist Health has more than 20 hospitals and 250 clinics in more than 80 communities on the West Coast and in Hawaii. With millions of patients being served per year, the need for their health IT systems to interoperate with each other—both inside and outside of the Adventist Health system –  is paramount. Last month, Adventist Health shared how implementing the Cerner HIE in 2019 and connecting to the CommonWell nationwide data exchange network, including its connection to Carequality, took Adventist Health from one-way data sharing to “true interoperability.” With that one connection to CommonWell, Adventist Health clinicians immediately had the ability to access data from more 50,000 provider sites nationwide.
