Two weeks ago, CommonWell closed on its sixth HIMSS, celebrating 5 years since announcing our formation at HIMSS13. More than 40 of our nearly 80 member companies helped us celebrate at our Member Reception on Tuesday evening. Throughout the conference, seven of our CommonWell members participated in the Nationwide Care Transitions use case in the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase. During the live demonstrations, the participants featured CommonWell services built into their software and showed how patient data is shared across health IT systems, provider sites and geographies. For our third year in a row, CommonWell Health Alliance will be helping to bring the HIMSS18 show floor right to your computer screen. Please join us starting today and through the conference as we host CommonWell TV from HIMSS18 in Vegas We have booked interviews on the half hour with different executives from 30 CommonWell exhibiting member companies, as well as CommonWell Executive Director Jitin Asnaani. This year marks our 5th Anniversary at HIMSS, which hardly seems possible for those of us who have been a part of CommonWell since day one. This year seemed to be especially fun, with individuals from many of our member companies staffing our booth. We had a great time hosting new and old friends in our booth and enjoyed highlighting the more than 9800+ provider sites committed to using CommonWell services on our life-size map wall. Home of Disney World, the Harry Potter Experience at Universal and the HIMSS17 conference, all of which given me a twinge of awe and amazement when I walk through the gates/doors (and each of which always leave my feet hurting at the end of the day). Wow! It hardly seems possible that it was just a week ago when we were hosting our 4th consecutive booth at HIMSS. It was a packed four days, filled with networking, education and celebration. This year, we had 21 of our 40+ member companies participating at HIMSS. As you can see, they were proud to display their CommonWell membership, with many of them sharing service demos and testimonials on their booths. Hello from Vegas! HIMSS always feels like the beginning of a New Year to me. Since CommonWell first announced our formation at HIMSS 13 in New Orleans, it has become our tradition to use it as an opportunity to celebrate the past year’s successes, report on our progress and share our future plans. It is also a time to connect with our Alliance members, as well as old and new industry friends. I honestly look forward to it every year. This week on the HIMSS Exhibition floor, one of my former colleagues who swung by the CommonWell Health Alliance booth said to me "HIMSS is like a family reunion." That is so true. You reunite people you haven't seen in years. You meet new friends who are connected to someone you know. And you share stories as you catch up on both personal and professional happenings. Besides what we are working on at CommonWell (which is pretty awesome!), what's cool about working with CommonWell Health Alliance is that my health care "family" is expanding beyond my traditional industry and company affiliations.
